ECONOMIC IMPACT OF SENIORS
-- Seniors have more discretionary income than any other age group.
-- Seniors spend more on children's clothing and toys than the children's parents.
-- The 60+ population owns 77 percent of all U.S. financial assets.
-- Seniors purchase about half of all new domestic and luxury cars.
-- Seniors spend more dollars on travel and recreation then any other age group.

prescription drugs is "a very great burden," while another 24% indicated that it was
"somewhat of a burden." Thirty-four percent said spending on prescription drugs

older Hispanics, describe the present as the best years of their lives, a 32%

-- Nearly 2 million hearing aids were sold in 1998, and as the number of people with
hearing loss increases to 15 million or more with the aging baby boomer
population, sales of hearing aids are expected to double.
